Thriftbook.com Review

I recently got this text book for my Chemistry Concurrent Enrollment class. New from the school's bookstore it was $82.00 but this version is fairly old so I decided to order it online used. I had a gift card from Barnes and Nobles so I looked on their site and I found a steal of a deal for this book, however when I ordered I found out they sold the book to me through a third party seller under the name of Silver Arch Books. When this company sent me a confirmation email I found out they actually are part of Thriftbooks.com (what the heck!) Anyway ordered the book on a Wednesday night and they shipped it on Thursday from St. Louis, they told me it would take 4-14 days for it to get here. However they did not provide any information about what shipping company they used and never sent a tracking link even when I requested one, they said to ask for it later when they had the info?(I asked through email.) Anyway I ended up getting the textbook two weeks later (the very last day of their estimation) it was wrapped in  rather flimsy plastic packaging, especially since it was a textbook. The condition is what I expected it to be in for what they called "acceptable condition" tattered corners, highlighting and writing inside, regular usage signs. I have mixed feelings about this company and it's customer service but I guess what can you expect for an under priced textbook. If you do consider using this company just expect your package very late and don't think you'll get any customer service from them. I know Thriftbooks.com has many companies under it's name, here is an Amazon.com thread with more reviews and all their names. I guess I learned my lesson, if it's too good to be true it probably is.

If you are interested in the textbook here is a link to it from Amazon, an actually reliable seller from my experience.

"Yolanda" Arizona Jeans Co. Combat Boots

Arizona Yolanda Womens Ankle Boots
I got these boots a couple weeks ago for the start of school at JC Penny's. I have been wearing them now for about a week at school and have walked home in them a couple times and they seem to be very well built. They are also super cute! I got the brown ones like the one in the pic above but there were also some very cute black ones with grey gingham stripes. You can either leave them snapped down or lace them up into a regular boot, so far I've only had them down but when winter starts to take over they will come in handy for rainy day boots. The tread is like any regular boot or shoe, nothing special and there is about an inch of a heel but it doesn't really bother me, like I said you can do serious hiking in them if you need to walk home ;) I did put Journey's protect all spray on them and they seemed to take the product well so they are now waterproofed. As for sizing I am normally from size 9-10 and I got a  size 10 so they run a bit smaller than other shoes.Overall I am very happy with these, we'll see how they do in the winter but so far I haven't had any problems with them.

Here is a link to them on JC Penny's site.

Metallic Sharpies

I recently got a package of these Sharpie markers to try out. I found these at Hobby Lobby and the pack of 3 cost $6.99. The bronze color kinda seemed almost dried out when I first tested it, it would draw a little then fizzle out, but once I kept using it it started working fine like the others. I'm thinking maybe the ink just wasn't quite flowing through the tip yet, but now that it's started it works fine. All of the colors are beautiful the silver and gold are actually very neutral, but the bronze (my favorite) is a shimmery warm almost rose gold color. The gold isn't a classic yellow gold like on jewelry, it almost has a hit of grey to it, but the silver is a classic sterling sliver color, it is very light and not dark at all. The smell to these are different from your classic sharpie stench but not worse, just different (and no I'm not a druggie, I've just lost a few brain cells in art more than once) I can't say anything about how long they last because I haven't had them long enough but they seem to have the same amount of use as regular sharpies. Overall I like these and would buy them again without hesitation.

This is not the exact pack I got but pretty close on Amazon.

This bedroom might be nice for a newlywed couple or as a teenage girl's room.

The furniture is from Pottery Barn.

Living Room

This could work as living room or parlor.

The colors are from Sherwin Williams from left to right Teal Zeal 355-6, Edelweiss 522-2, Earl Gray 522-5

Kitchen

I love the appliances in this kitchen, very professional equipment plus I love anything stainless steel.

The color is from Sherwin Williams Water Chestnut 522-3
The range, oven, microwave, and vent are from viking and the fridge is from Samsung.

Outside Dining

This could work for indoor dining too but I think the decor is more suited for outdoor dining either on the patio or on a picnic table.

The colors are from Sherwin Williams from left to right Sea Fantasy 256-6, Castile 453-6, Citrus Spice 110-7, Green Pear 108-7

Bathroom

I think this bathroom would be fun in a tropical location, it looks like this room could be found in a jungle lookout or something like that.

The colors are from Sherwin Williams 1st row left to right Country Club 404-6, Victorian Linen 120-1, Caribbean Holiday 355-7 2nd row Orange Vermillion 128-7
The towels are from the Company Store, the mirrors from Pier 1 Imports and the furniture from Pottery Barn.

Little Girl Bedroom

I think this room would be adorable for a little girl bedroom and could easily transition into a teenager girl room. However, I would love this room and I am not a little girl age wise anymore, though I am in heart ;)

The colors are from Sherwin Williams from top to bottom Tapestry Teal 155-7, Handsome Hue 155-3, Cow's Milk 534-1

The colors are from Sherwin Williams left to right Ginger 320-7, Stonington 416-4, Cream Puff 522-1
The furniture and animals are from pottery barn.

This office could work in a lady's room for a study or just use the decor for a regular work office. The diamond is actually a speaker and the phone stand charges you're phone as well.

The colors are from Sherwin Williams left to right Hot Pink Kiss 136-7, Ocean Cruise 154-4, Mediterranean Blue 154-7

Artist's Studio

I kept everything in the studio neutral to keep the artists work the focus of the room. I especially like the skylight to let in as much light as possible, but their are blackout drapes in case the artist need to work in only artificial lights (the studio lights along with recessed lighting). I kept the desk sub-ordinate and I included an inspiration board to pin down ideas.

The colors are from Sherwin Williams from left to right Whippet 522-4, Gray Forest 555-4, Inverness Gray 555-2, Black Forest 555-7

Mini Ultra-Sonic Raider

Hi this is Tyler and on this post I will show you one of my Lego creations.
This creation is my mini ultra-sonic raider. This model is actually a Lego set,
I just made a miniature version of it.

When you look at this picture one of the first things you probably notice are the flames and the exhaust pipes.

Some of the other details are the golden  wing blades, giant tracks, and four person cockpit.

One of the cool features about the regular Lego set and the miniature model is that the top cockpit and         some of the other parts or the vehicle can turn into a plane.

It has a prison on it to capture snakes, the prison is also part of the plane.

I added the tail lights on the wheel mainly for looks.

This wraps it up. Stick around for more Lego creations.
     Bye :) Tyler

About this Blog

Hi this is Kamille (aka Kamel),

This blog is my personal space to record my thoughts and findings. You will be able to find just about anything in a normal teenage girl's life here from recipes to art projects to new stuff I learned in school. My little bro Tyler also posts on this blog occasionally so don't be surprised to find Lego creations around here as well.
Both Tyler and I love to read so I have included a list of books on the sidebar that we have personally read. I love romantic novels I'll eat up just about anything with a love story...or triangle. My most favorite genres are historical fiction and dystopian novels, but I will always read anything that could happen in real life and occasionally science fiction. What I absolutely cannot read is fantasy, think talking animals, fairies, magic, dungeons and dragons crap, if it could not logically happen in real life it's not for me. I also usually am not in the mood for constant fighting/action. I am more into relationships and social conflicts, I could care less if the book's setting was in the same place the whole time just give me some drama! Tyler on the other hand likes to read dystopian novels, especially lately. He enjoys action and mystery because "you don't really know what's going to happen and they're a lot more adventurous". Tyler also likes things that could happen in real life but he's cool with ghosts and zombies and stuff, (I'm the same way). Sometimes when we're going to the library and he doesn't know what to get he'll ask me for a suggestion, since we have similar tastes, or he'll find a featured book that looks interesting. Tyler also enjoys books that have different points of view.We might review some of the books we read here as well.
Hopefully you can find something useful or entertaining here :) Thanks for visiting!

xoxo Kamel
