LDS Word Documents

I am part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have a calling in young women's as a laurel secretary, and I am trying to earn my honor bee. Because of this I have created several word documents to help the young women and our leaders to help our meetings run smoother, and I thought some of these documents would be useful to share with others. I couldn't upload my actual word documents to my blog but if you would like any of these documents just shoot me an email at kamelinparadise@gmail.com and I can send you an attachment.

These first two are for opening exercises in young women's and for mutual. I usually make these in half sheets because you usually don't need all the space of a whole sheet of paper. I will make several copies and just keep them in the room we are meeting in with a pen or pencil.

I also made a young women directory that has all the young women and the leaders on it. I included basic contact information like their mailing address, home and cell phone numbers and their email address if they had one. This directory is mainly so the girls have a way to get a hold of each other if they need to remind someone of mutual or if they are team teaching a lesson on Sunday.

This is a mutual planning sheet. I will print a bunch of these for when the Laurels have a presidency meeting. You can write what month it is over the top of the table, then write the date of an activity on what week of the month it is on. Then on that same row we will write what the activity will be, who is attending, and any youth or adult assignments for that activity.

I had noticed that sometimes girls would say that they hadn't ever gotten a camp manual or a For the Strength of Youth pamphlet. This was happening often enough that I decided to get the girls all stocked with the essentials they were missing. So I started by making this checkoff list for them to see what they needed. Everything on the list (except the necklace) are essentials that young women need to complete personal progress or are important for records (primary recognition & membership record #).

They turned these back into me so I could make this master sheet of needed supplies.

I have the # copies needed, what it was, and what girls need them. Then I turned this sheet into the bishop who ordered the things that we needed. Once I started passing out the girl's supplies I used this sheet to cross off their names to see who I had left.

For New Beginnings I was in charge of introducing a new beehive, so I made a get to know you questionnaire that she filled out. I used these questions & her answers for her introduction.

*When is your birthday?
*Where were you born?
*What is your favorite color?
*Favorite food?
*Favorite dessert?
*Favorite animal?
*Favorite season?
*What is you favorite room in your house?
*What do you like to do outside?
* What is your favorite genre for books?
*What country would you love to visit?
*What has been your favorite vacation?
*Outside of your family, who is your hero?
*Who is your favorite American hero, (Rosa Parks, Abraham Lincoln, etc.)?
*Where do you want to live when you grow up?
*What is your favorite way to travel, (airplane, ferry, bus, etc.)?
*What are your hobbies?
*What are you most excited about for Young Women's?

I hope that you will find these useful and can take away some good ideas from these documents. As always thanks for reading, Kamille.

General Conference

This weekend is the 2015 October General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
This year my family does not have a TV that has actually TV on it (it only plays movies) so we are having to stream general conference online. I have found two sites that can do this for us one is lds.org and the other is mormonchannel.org. The church also has a YouTube channel that it posts the sessions to. I don't know how soon they will upload the sessions but as soon as they do I will let you guys know. There's another two sessions tomorrow, the morning session starting at 10:00 am, and  the afternoon session at 2:00 pm. I hope you all are having a wonderful general conference weekend and if you aren't LDS I would encourage you to watch a session either online or on TV :)

ACT Registration

The season of standardized testing has arrived and with it the frustration of all the paperwork and fees to prepare for them. This Fall I decided I wanted to take the ACT test one time before my free ACT test the school provides in March. I didn't want to take the one in September because school had only just started and I also didn't want to wait until December because I didn't feel like my score would improve much between the 3 month gap. This left me with the October test date.
Unfortunately I waited until the last week of registration to register and pay for my test and my mom could only help me on the very last day after school. So in the last few hours of registration left I filled out all the information  I could and had to wait for my mom a few minutes to come and fill in and submit the credit card information. When we were finished I hit the submit button and it automatically logged me out. I thought this was weird since before we submitted the page talked about uploading a photo for the admission ticket. I quickly logged back in to find where I should upload my photo and print out my ticket. However I could not find one thing about my transaction and all the information I had filled out, a good 7 or 8 pages were now completely blank.
I decided to send an email to the company to ask whether I had actually registered or not and went about the rest of my day. This was on the 18th of September, a Friday, on the following Wednesday I finally received a response email telling me they could find no evidence of my registration and if I still wanted to register I would have to pay the $25 late fee. My mom decided to call the company to see if since we had tried to register on time and their processing server screwed up we still had to pay the late fee. The person who responded told us their server had been working correctly all day when we tried to register and it was a problem on our side, they said this might happen if you wait too long to submit your information. So apparently the few minutes I waited for my mom to help me was too long for their server to wait and it lost all my information that had taken at least half an hour to fill out all the way.
The moral of my story is when you decide to register for the ACT have all your information ready to go including any billing information so you don't have to fill out 8 pages of information more than one time before it can work. Also be sure to register at least a few days before the deadline so if you have any technical difficulties or if the ACT website is being weird you won't be punished for it.
In case you're wondering I decided to wait and do the December ACT so I wouldn't have to pay the 25 extra dollars and I will save that money to take the P-SAT instead. This blog post really helped me with my decision, and it might help you with your test planning.

_____________________________________________________________________________
UPDATE: I did end up taking the ACT in December. When I filled out my information this time I made sure that my mom was ready to go when I needed her so the page wasn't inactive for longer then 5 minutes. This time the registration went through and immediately came to a new page with new instructions for uploading a picture and printing my ticket. So the ACT website does work you just can't leave it inactive for even a small amount of time. I hope this helps. <3/Kamel

D&C 60:4

Here is a chalkboard rendition of part of D&C 60:4. The way I interpret it's message is the Lord's  "jewels"  will not necessarily sparkle on this Earth but in Heaven. The World's standards for fame and power are not the same as those from God. God will favor those who are meek and humble, who give service out of love, and those who are willing to follow his example and keep his commandments. This is one of my favorite scriptures and I wanted to share it with you this Sunday.
Love, Kamel

Lego Lowrider Convertible

Hi there it's Tyler with another Lego creation. This time I made a classic 1960's low-rider convertible. First of all I tried to replicate what an old style car's lights would look like.

You might have noticed the front is a little more detailed and shaped than the back, but I tried my best not to make it too dull. Also on the sides I had a really holey wall, I covered that with side panels.

I had an odd number of seats, I just did this so all three of my Lego people could fit.

One of the features of this model is that you can open up the hood and reveal an engine. I tried to put in some of the parts that would be in a real engine, for example I put in a radiator on the left and windshield wiper fluid right next to it.

In this picture you can see the interior and how I arranged the seats. You can also see the steering wheel and the parking brake right next to the driver's seat.

In these final pictures you can see the convertible compared to some of my other Lego things. The boat is probably the closest one in size and height to the convertible.
Thanks for reading see you next time,
Tyler
